M2M is not only a question of technology; it's also a question of change management!
Ever so often we enter into discussions with customers of how the technology works within a machine-to-machine (M2M) set up. The discussion is needed to create trust that it will work and that it is secure to be used, even for the most demanding purposes or environments. In the past year we have seen that the discussion have gone from being technology oriented to be more business process oriented and what impact the M2M will have on the overall business processes.
Is it a coincident that customers come to us first?
The answer is no; with more than 13 years within the M2M market and being the first independent partner to businesses wanting to use M2M technology it is obvious that we are high on the list of potential providers of these services. It is with pride I can say that customers who work with Maingate still sees us as the number one provider of M2M services in the Nordic region. Our strategy is simple: Use our total knowledge of our customers segments and instead of responding to the question "How" we ask the question "Why".
We are currently dealing with customers of all types, within several vertical segments and not at least different sizes. But one common nominator is that we together try to respond to be the question "Why".
Why do companies want to build and use an M2M infrastructure?
When we have a common understanding of the "Why" we can move on further and explore what the impact will be on their business. These are a key issues for all companies or organizations wanting to enter into the M2M world and this is also what Maingate does best as we have deep knowledge of our selected vertical segments, understanding the customers value chain. It ranges from secure payments and Utilities working in a regulated environment to a deep understanding of manufacturing industries challenges within the global economy. It is this knowledge that makes the difference and also what makes us secure in helping our customers in the process of answering the question why? The "how" is fairly easy and it does not take too much to get started. With one exception; always use an independent provider that at all times have your business as its main focus and who constantly invest in competencies that will continuously develop your business.

This is where change occurs and I have personally been involved with several customers who, by working with Maingate, have embraced the M2M technology and gotten access to information that have had a positive impact on their business processes every day, every week and every month.
